This signature building for a longtime business owner in Campbell is a combination of striking shapes and proportions, whose structure is vividly expressed in the steel braced frames along its front facade and an adjacent rigid bent along one side. The two-story building’s configuration of oblique angles and re-entrant corners, and mix of lateral systems required extensive structural ties for continuity throughout the building. Almost complete, the initial structure suffered severe damage from fire. An extensive metallurgical testing program designed by AKH allowed the salvage of significant portions of the steel framing for the reconstruction. Completed in 1997.
